Catcher Mark Salas had a resounding rookie season with the Minnesota Twins in 1985. He led the team in batting with .300 in 120 games, and posted a very fine .991 fielding percentage. After a solid 1986 with the Twins he was traded to the New York Yankees on June 7 1987 for pitcher Joe Niekro. In 50 games in the Big Apple he hit .200 and the next season was traded to the White Sox, where he hit .250 in 75 games. Mark Salas played his last two major league seasons with the Detroit Tigers, 1990 and 1991. |
