An all-around athlete Sam Mejias was a noted outfield defensive specialist. He played 21 games with the Cardinals prior to being traded in a six-man deal to the Montreal Expos in November of 1976. For the Expos he hit .228 in 1977 and .232 in 1978. Sam Mejias was purchased from the Cubs by Cincinnati in order to bolstered their outfield corps, hit .278 and .286 with the Reds. |
