A noted defensive shortstop, Bobby LaMotte came up to the Washington Nationals organization back in 1920, and went back-and-forth in the majors and minors the next two seasons. In 1925 he signed with the old St Louis Browns and had his best season in batting with 20 doubles, 4 triples, 2 homers scored 61 runs runs and batted in 51, while hitting .272. On January 15 1927 Bobby LaMotte  was traded to the Detroit Tigers in a 7-player deal but refused to go to Detroit and retired instead.
