May 27 2007 News of the Day Right-hander John Lackey (8-3) posted his major league leading eight wins en-route to a 4-3 Los Angeles Angels victory over the New York Yankees. John Lackey surrendered 5-hits, 2-runs in eight strong innings before being relieved by Francisco Rodriguez, who collected his 16th save of 2007. The visiting Angels sweep the New Yorkers aided by two bases loaded walks by LA teammates Erick Aybar and Chone Figgins in the seventh inning. John Lackey lowered his earned run average to 2.33, second best in the entire American League, trailing only Danny Haren of Oakland, 1.70. |
