An excellent athlete, Craig Biggio was a multi All-Star at three different positions during his 20 major league seasons, all with the Houston Astros. He played his first 4 years as a catcher, 1988-1991, then played second base for 10 seasons, moved to the outfield in 2002, then returned to second base two seasons later. Craig Biggio was the first player in baseball history to line 600 doubles, 250 home runs, 3,000 hits and 400 steals. Upon announcing he will retire after the end of 2007, Craig Biggio stated 'There are a lot of guys that have the game taken away from them because of injury. For me to be able to walk away now, on top, on my own accord, I'm very happy with that.' |
