Baltimore Orioles Won 4 Games
Cincinnati Reds Won 1 Game

Brooks Robinson, Orioles, made seven incredible diving plays at 3rd. base to grab hard hit ground balls and somehow was able to throw out the batters. These plays by Brooks Robinson are rated by many as the greatest fielding feats that were ever made in world series play.

Big Guns
Home runs were smashed by Orioles hitters - Boog Powell, Elrod Hendricks, Brooks Robinson all homered in the first game; as did Lee May, Reds. 

  • Game 2, Johnny Bench, Reds Star Catcher, homered.
  • Game 3; Dave McNally, Orioles' Pitcher hit Grand Slam.
  • Game 4; Pete Rose homered and Lee May hit a three-run blast for the Reds.
  • Game 5; Frank Robinson and Merv Rettemund blasted homers for the Baltimore Orioles. 

Pitching Stars
Dave McNally won two games, Mike Cuellar and Jim Palmer
each won one game.

American League Playoffs 1970
Baltimore won 3 games in a row to sweep the Twins. Orioles pitcher, Mike Cuellar hit a grand-slam homer in game one.  Harmon Killebrew, Twins Hall of Famer, hit 2 homers in the series, Orioles' Jim Palmer and Dave McNally picked up wins in games 2 & 3.

National League Playoffs 1970
The Cincinnati Reds won three in a row over the Pirates. Gary Nolan, Reds pitcher won game one.  Tony Perez and Johnny Bench homered in game 3. Bobby Tolan, Reds center fielder, hit a game winning homer in game 2; and in game 3 - Bobby Tolan drove in the winning run by lining a single in the 8th inning.
