One of the strongest men to ever to perform on the pitching mound, the muscular 6-foot, 190-pound George Uhle won 200 games and hurled 21 shutouts in his brilliant 17-year career. Pitching for the Cleveland Indians, he won over 20 games three times, including leading the AL in wins with 26 in 1923 and 27 in 1926, going 22-16 in '22, then 26-16 and 27-11 in '26. As a 21-year-old rookie with the Cleveland Indians in 1919, he posted a 10-5 record, with a nice 2.91 ERA. A native of Ohio, the durable mound star was rightly nicknamed 'The Bull.' Uhle led the league with 29 complete games in '23 and with 32 in '26, and also led in innings pitched both seasons, with 357 and 318 respectively. One of the best hitting pitchers all-time, Uhle had a career batting average of .289, slugged 60 doubles, 21 triples, 9 homers and drove in 187 runs, and struck out just 112 times in 1,360 at-bats. And, in a game on April 28, 1921 he had 6 RBIs.
