A pioneering professional MLB star player and an all-around athlete, Martin Sullivan was one of the fastest outfielders during this era. Born in Lowell, Massachusetts, he broke into the National League at age 25 in 1887 with the Chicago White Stockings (later nicknamed the Cubs) and lined 13 doubles, 16 triples, 7 homers, and scored 98 runs with 77 RBIs and stole 35 bases in just 115 games. Sullivan played one more season in Chicago - hitting .236 in 75 games before signing with the Indianapolis Hoosiers in 1889... and after the Hoosiers folded from the National League, he signed with the Boston Red Stockings (a franchise that continues to this day as the Atlanta Braves). In 1890 with the Boston franchise, Marty Sullivan put up some solid numbers - hitting .285 in 121 games, with 19Ds, 7Ts, 61 Hrs, 33 stolen bases, 82 runs and 56 RBIs.
