Fans Favorite An excellent fielding second baseman Doug Flynn played 11 seasons in MLB. A slap hitter he struck out just 320 times in his career in 3,853 at bats. Born and raised in Lexington Kentucky, the 5 ft 11 inch, 160 pound Doug Flynn hit .268, .283 in his first two major league seasons, 1975-76, with Cincinnati, then was traded to the New York Mets. In 1979 playing second base Doug Flynn led the NL in putouts with 369, in chances with 762 and with 98 double plays. In 1980 he won a Gold Glove. And, on August 5 1980, the speedy Doug Flynn became the first NL player to hit 3 triples in one Game. Doug Flynn stats: .238 BA, 115 Doubles, 7 triples, 7 Hr, 918 hits in 3853 at bats in 1308 games, 288 Runs, 284 RBI and a superior .986 fielding average.
