Oak Forest Illinois tops Mother McAuley High School 4-0 on 2011 April 26

A long homer by Oak Forest High School catcher Emily Naegele helped the Oak Forest Bengals to a 4-0 victory over No 5 rated Mother McAuley Mighty Macs in Chicago area girls softball.

The wind was blowing in but still-and-all Emily Naegle lined one 20 feet over the fence in left/center field. The homer scored teammate Samantha Bal and was Naegele’s 8th homer of the year and put the team ahead 2-0.

Coach Paige Stryczek Oak Forest was delighted with the victory that improved Oak Forest to 16-2 for the season. About the home run she said, “It was a pretty good hit, so it went over.”

Paige Stryczek who coached the Oak Forest team to the Illinois Class A Title started pitcher Colleen Sherwood over her number 1 for the past 4 years, Emily Norton.

Emily North was the 2009 Illinois Gatorade Player of the Year.

Mother McAuley’s leadoff batter Megan Bush doubled and was sacrificed to third base by Mary Claire Conway. Coach Stryczek then went to the mound and put in Emily Norton to pitch. She struck out the next two batters, and didn’t yield a hit for the rest of the game but did issued 3 bases on balls. She notched 10 strikeouts.

Ashley Rogers pitched a complete game for Mother McAuley. She scattered 6 hits, 4 runs, walked one and struck out 4.
