A hard hitting, aggressive fielding shortstop, Terrie Davis was the AAGPBL first batting champion – hitting a robust .332 in 1943 for the Rockford Peaches.

A native of Toronto, Gladys Davis also played under the name of Terrie Davis and is a member of The Canada Baseball Hall of Fame

Chicago Cubs scout Jack Sheehan along with Vern Hemlund, supervisor for the Chicago Parks Department worked with the Womens League President to come up with Rules of Play. And, new rules were established prior to the formation of the League which combined softball and baseball rules
