A fans favorite in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Alma Ziegler was one of the best all-around players of the All-American Girls Professional League. An excellent second baseman, a leading pitcher, a patience hitter and a daring base runner. Ziegler broke in with Milwaukee in 1944 and moved with the team the following season to Grand Rapids in Michigan. Nicknamed Ziggy and Gabby. Her career in the AAGBL spanned 11 years, in which she was named the league's 1950 Player of the Year, the Pitching Champion in 1951, was named to the All-Star squad in 1950 and 1953 and utilized her speed to snatch 387 career stolen bases.
