Bill Terry was born in Atlanta, Ga., in 1898 and began professional baseball in 1914 with the Atlanta team (minors during this era). After playing around with Southern teams he came to the Giants in 1923 as first baseman. In 1932 he succeeded John McGraw as manager and last year piloted his team to the National League pennant and World Championship. |
