Baseball Historian Biography

CREATED/PUBLISHED 1925 - SUMMARY
Informal three-quarter length portrait of baseball catcher Leo Dixon, of the American League's St. Louis Browns, crouching on the field at Comiskey Park, which was located at 324 West 35th Street and bounded by West 34th Street, South Shield's Avenue (formerly Portland Avenue), and South Wentworth Avenue in the Armour Square community area of Chicago, Illinois. SDN-065310, Chicago Daily News negatives collection, Chicago Historical Society.

Then, as now, catchers were in high demand by major league teams, and Leo Dixon was a very solid defensive backstop.
