Baseball Historian Biography

A noted fielding shortstop Rick Auerbach broke into the major leagues with the Milwaukee in 1972 and was the Brewers starting shortstop the next season, hitting .218, with 16 doubles and a .269 on-base-pct. Traded to the LA Dodgers he hit .342 in 45 games in 1974. Rick Auerbach went 1-for-1 for Dodgers vs Pirates in 1974 National League Championship Series.

Rick Auerbach was sold to Reds by Rangers on June 15 1977. In 1978 the 6-ft, 165 pound Rick Auerbach batted .327, with 6 doubles, 2 homers, 17 runs, 5 RBIs in 63 games. On June 27 1979 vs former LA teammates he lined 3 doubles, including one with the bases loaded to lead the Reds to a 9-1 rout. On September 11 1979 he lined a game-winning sacrific fly that defeated Houston 9-8.
