Nolan Ryan, Starting Pitcher
Strike Out King of Baseball

Nolan Ryan in 1973 broke Sandy Koufax's one season mark of 382 by striking out 383.  Ryan's breathtaking fastball was like a blur to the opposing batters, they appeared to be swinging at air.  He led the league through the decade of the 70's.  In 1972, Nolan Ryan mowed down 329 would be hitters, and in 1976, he recorded 327 K. In 1977; 341 more swings and misses. Nolan Ryan threw two (2) no-hitters in 1973 and had a win-lose record of 21-16. With his marvelous fastball, Nolan Ryan ended his career with the lowest opponents batting average in baseball history. Would be hitters had a .204 average against this great pitcher, a one-of-a-kind-feat.
