Hank Sauer; Leftfielder


Hank SauerHank Sauer, Leftfielder, Chicago Cubs & Cinc. Reds, late 1940's and 1950's.  Popular Chicago Cub home run hitter.  Sauer was Most Valuable Player in 1952; when he hit 37 homers and had 121 RBI's.  Hank won many games for the Cubs with his booming bat. Cub Manager, Phil Cavarretta said "I wouldn't trade Sauer for anyone".  In 1950, Sauer whacked 32 homers, and in 1951, he clubbed 30.  The fans came out to Wrigley Field to see Hank, "hit a homer".  In 1954, Sauer belted 41 home runs.  Four different years, he hit 30 homers or more.  Thanks for the memories; Hank Sauer, a top All-Star.
