Pitchers Bios from 'Who's Who in the Major Leagues Magazine' 19th Edition Note: keep in mind some of the pitchers were veterans winding down their long successful careers and some were rookies just starting out... but all had their days of major league glory, and are proud out it, as well as they should be.

* Don Newcombe, Dodgers Pitcher, B left, T right, 6'4", Wt. 240 - The giant hurler lighted his soph year in bigtime with another bright performance. Last season he topped Dodger pitchers in complete game (20); IP 267. He won 19, fanned 130, had a 3.71 ERA. He's 76" (inches) of real pitcher.

* Preacher Roe, Dodgers Pitcher, B right, T left, 6'1", Wt. 163 - The peerless pitcher keeps right on contributing a lot of wins to his team's total. Last season (1950) was one of his best with 19 victories. His ERA of 3.30 was the best made by any Dodgers hurler.

* Erv Palica, Dodgers Pitcher, B & T right, 6' 1.5", Wt. 180 - When the Dodgers lose him to Uncle Sam it will be a tough break. Last year he continued his sensational relief work and was a starter from mid-season.

* Rex Barney, Dodgers Pitcher, B & T right; 6' 3", 188 - Was practically inactive again last summer; working in only 20 games with a 2-1 record. * Clarence Bud Podbielan, B & T right; 6' 1", Wt. 170 - Returns regulary after being demoted. He was W 5, L 4 for the Dodgers last year; W 5, L 7 for Ft Worth.

* Chris Van Cuyk, Dodger Pitcher, B & T left; 6' 6", 215 - The towering hurler from Ft. Worth came up late last season with a 14-5 record in the Texas league. Appeared in 12 Dodger games with a 1-3 record.

* Billy Loes, Pitcher, B & T right, Ht. 6' 1", Wt. 165 - The young pitcher from Nashua stayed around last year - but got in for only 13 innings - with no decisions.

* Clem Labine, Dodgers Pitcher, B & T right, Ht. 6', 180 - Pitcher from St Paul. Making a second bid for a Dodger berth. Last season (with St. Paul) he was W 11, L 7 - pitching in 37 games.

* Willard Ramsdell, Pitcher, & & T right, 5' 11", Wt. 180 - The knuckle-baller won 18 for Hollywood in '49 then came up to Brooklyn, then was traded to Cincinnati. (His two team record was 8-14).

* Jim Romano, Dodgers Pitcher, B & T right; 6' 4", 190 - The big pitcher W 12, L 10 for Mobile, then went to St Paul where he pitched 3-hit shutout.

* Joe Hatten, Dodger Pitcher, B & T right; 5' 10.5", 175 - Another problem child on the Brook pitching staff. His Arm gave him a lot of trouble last year.
