Irv Noren's one-out homer in the 10th inning broke up a tie game as the Yankees edges the Indians 2-1 Friday night.

June 25, 1955 -

Chicago Sun-Times Newspaper Clipping New York (AP) - It was only the fifth hit given up by Mike Garcia, who had the Yankees popping up most of the night. But the big right-hander was rapped for his ninth defeat in 12 decisions (3.65 ERA) as the Indians time and again blew chances to rap up the game in regulation time. Yogi Connects Yogi Berra swatted the only other solid blow off Garcia, a two-out homer into the right-center-field stands that tied the score at 1-all in the seventh. T

he Indians scored their only run in the first inning, an unearned marker that Al Smith carried across as the Yankees committed two errors. Cleveland got hits in each of the first seven innings off rookie Johnny Kucks but left 14 men stranded in that span. Win To Konstanty Kucks, who walked six while allowing nine of the Tribe's 10 hits, gave way to a pinch-hitter (Eddie Robinson) in the eight.

Jim Konstanty came on in relief to gain his fifth victory (5-0). Konstanty gave up just one hit in the two innings he worked. It was only the third Yankee victory in nine meetings with the Tribe this season and 47,077 fans - largest of the New York season - sat in on the game which was delayed 37 minutes by rain.
