May 13, 1955- Yankee Stadium, Mickey Mantle became only the second American League player ever to homer from both sides of the plate. Switch hitting Mantle led the Yankees to a 5-2 win over the Tigers, driving in all five runs with 3 homers and a single......... June 5, Mickey Mantle blasted a Billy Pierce fastball over the left field roof at old Comiskey Park in Chicago. The home run was estimated at over 500 feet......... June 21, Mantle became the first player in history to hit a home run into straightaway center field in Yankee Stadium. The ball cleared the 30 foot high hitters' background and landed in the 9th row, 486 feet from home plate.
