The St. Louis Cardinals, the defending World Baseball Champions of 2011, beat the Miami Marlins 4 to 1 behind the starting pitching of Kyle Lohse and clutch hitting of third baseman David Freese. New St. Louis manager Mike Matheny was delighted with the outcome.

By winning the visiting Redbirds of St. Louie spoiled the brand new Marlins Park and new manager Ozzie Guillen plus all the newly signed free agents. The Marlins have been around for 20 years, as the Florida Marlins and have won 2 World Champions. They now play as the Miami Marlins and their new stadium holds 37,000 and features 588 bobbleheads in glass enclosed cases plus two 450 gallon aquariums behind home plate, imagine that, can you.
