The hometown fans were delighted at the outcome of the pitching duel as lanky Tim Lincecum pitched 7 innings and did not allow a Twins player to advance past second base. The Giants managed two runs and defeated the visiting Minnesota Twins 2-1.

The winning pitcher, Tim Lincecum (6-6 with a 3.16 ERA) gave up just 3 hits, struck out 12 Twins, walked 2, and yielded no runs in 7 innings. He was locked in with Minnesota starter Brian Duensing (4-7 with a 4.54 ERA). Brian Duensing allowed 6 hits, 1 run, 5 Ks, 2 Ws in 6.2 innings.

Giants closer Brian Wilson was gave up a walk, a hit and a run in the top of the ninth. Twins rightfielder Michael Cuddyer ripped three hits, including 2 doubles in 4 at bats and drove in the Twins only run in 9th. Giants reliever Ja. Lopez pitched a scorelss 8th.

Brian Wilson notched his 21st save in 23 tries.

For the San Francisco Giants Miguel Tejada and Cody Ross had RBIs.
