The Famous "Green Box"

What's a green box and why is it so famous? Well, just like a baseball dugout, that's where the stories are told. The "Green Box" appeared on the Baseball Historian web site during our inception back in 1999 and has been holding kangaroo court ever since. Enjoy the stories...

Minnesota Twins (Year 2000) New Century
April 2, 2000 Baseballhistorian.com - Internet News Services

1999 Season - AL Central 63-97, 5th Place

2000 Season Outlook - The Twins are expected to move up two notches in the American League Central and finish in 3rd place, maybe higher.

Starting Pitching Rotation - Brad Radke RH, Eric Minton LH, LaTroy Hawkins RH, Joe Mays RH and Sean Bergman RH.

Meat Of The Batting Order - 3-4-5 Hitters: Matt Lawton, Butch Huskey and Todd Walker.

Bullpen Aces - Bob Wells, Eddie Guardado, Hector Carrasco, Travis Miller, Julio Santana, and Mark Redman

New Century - New Outlook: Twins' manager Tom Kelly is counting on 3rd baseman Corey Koskie, second baseman Todd Walker and switch-hitting catcher Marcus Jensen to put up big numbers in 2000. This could be shortstop Cristian Guzman's year to bloom into stardom. GM Terry Ryan has assembled a group of outstanding outfielders and is hoping the Twins jump off to a fast start as it rebuilds its confidence after a losing year in '99. Outfielders, Matt Lawton, Butch Huskey, Toni Hunter, Midre Cummings and Jacque Jones are sure to improve the teams' run production, which was one of the worst in baseball on '99. Perhaps with a winning season the loyal Twins fans will start filling the ballpark as the new century begins.
