Pirates' rookie Mike Dunne allowed seven hits while going all the way in a 8-2 victory over the Chicago Cubs in Wrigley Field Saturday afternoon. Dunne, who increased his' season record to 3-1, walked none and fanned four. Relying most on a hard sinker, Dunne made few mistakes other than surrendering Leon Durham's 14th home run of the year.

Bobby Bonds led the Pirates' offensive attack with two home runs, his 8th and 9th of the year. The first homer led off the ball game and came off losing pitcher Greg Maddux (4-6). Bonds was 3-for-4, while teammate R. J. Reynolds also went 3-for-4, scored twice, drove in two runs and hit his 3rd homer of the season. The Cubs dropped to 36-31 but still hung on to 2nd place in the NL East. The Pirates upped their season record to 30-35, 5th place.
