Here’s the Chicago Cubs Story

Billy Goat Curse on the Chicago Cubs. For almost 60 seasons the Chicago Cubs have experienced futility of not winning a pennant nor World Series. Not since 1945 when the Cubs last won the pennant have they played in a World Series game. In 1945, north-side tavern owner and Cubs fan Bill Sianis found a Billy Goat wondering the streets of Chicago, the animal most likely fell off a livestock truck. Sianis took the goat home and made it his personal pet. When he took his pet to the fourth game of the World Series against the Detroit Tigers at Wrigley Gum Field in Chicago, the ushers refused to let him enter the ballpark with the Billy Goat (we wonder why!). Upset at the ushers, Sinias yelled, ‘The Cubs will never win another pennant.’ And, indeed, to this day they haven’t, although a few years ago Cubs management had Sinias’ nephew bring another Billy Goat into the park to try and break the jinx.
