Player Bios: Norm Cash, Outfielder - 1B, Left-handed, Detroit Tigers - a power-packed, 6-foot-190-pounder he broke into organized ball with Waterloo of the Three-I League in 1955 and slugged 17 and 23 homers in his first two seasons, and spent 1958 and 1959 proudly serving in the U.S. Military during the Korean War. Norm Cash debuted with the Chicago White Sox in Sept-1958 and played part-time in '59 before being traded to the Tigers. He led the American League in batting in 1961 with .361, line 22 doubles, 8 triples and blasted 41 home runs, scored 119 runs and had 132 RBIs... and drew 124 walks while striking out just 85 times. In fifteen seasons with the Tigers, he had nine straight years of hitting over 20 home runs, 1961-69 and after hitting 15 in 1970 he blasted 32 in '71 and 22 in '72 and his 377 lifetime homers rank up with the big-guys.
