Baseball History

October 6, 1963, Game 4: In Los Angeles, Sandy Koufax pitched the entire game and beat the New York Yankees 2-1. This feat provides a first ever World Series sweep over the N.Y. Yankees. Yankees' ace pitcher 'Whitey' Ford pitched great ball but is tagged with the loss when 1st baseman, Joe Pepitone mis-judged a throw in the 3rd inning from third baseman Clete Boyer. After the game, Pepitone had said, " I lost the lost the ball in the background of the crowd". Sandy Koufax completes the 4 games Series with 2 wins and 23 K's and is voted the Series MVP. Dodgers' Tommy Davis led all hitters with a .400 BA and ex-Yankee 1st baseman 'Moose' Skowron hit .385 against his former teammates.
