Third Baseman Righthanded, Philadelphia A's 1943-1946; Detroit Tigers 1946-1952; Boston Red Sox 1954-1956; Baltimore Orioles 1956-1957

George Kell was a premier fielding third baseman who accomplished a record for third basemen by hitting over .300 for eight straight years.

Baseball player George Kell paved the way for a new breed of third basemen by becoming a hard hitting player and changed the perception of the hot corner from a sort of 'second shortstop' in terms of hitting.

George Kell retired with a .969 fielding average, the highest mark in history, a record that stood for 20 years.

Hall of Fame baseball player, Kell won the American League batting crown in 1949 when he hit .343.

After he retired he joined Al Kaline and the Detroit Tigers in the broadcast booth. George Kell's Career: .306 batting average, 2,054 hits, 385 doubles, 78 HR's, he played in 1,795 games while batting 6,072 times.
